In one of the heart-warming instances, CM Nitish Kumar stopped by the education stall where he noticed a promising student, Balram Kumar. The teen had just gotten a scholarship, and Nitish stepped closer with a pat on his shoulder and said, “Khub man lagakar padho beta” — Study hard, son.
Unvoiced Disappointment of the Mukheria Women
At the very side of the stage, beneath the expectation of a shade, there sat Dulari Devi, an old resident of Khiribandh. With years of countryside experience scored on her face, she had this one desire: not for money, not for a scheme, but only a few words. “We sat here for hours just to hear him speak,” she said, in a glum tone. However, he [Nitish Kumar] did not utter a single word to us. Just waved and left.” She wasn’t alone. A good few women, many with babies on their hips and documents in their hands, had waited with the same hope. not only to get schemes but to feel seen.
Nitish Kumar Mukheria Schemes: All Action, No Words?
The administrative machinery checked all its boxes. Stalls were efficient, queues were controlled, and distributions went smoothly. The press will write about it as a success story – and it was on paper. However, politics is as much about the connection as it is about implementation. CM Nitish waved back, smiled, and even accepted tokens of gratification from the villagers. However, in the absence of a personal address or a public statement or even a passing conversation in open, a definite gap was created. This wasn’t a rally. But it was still some kind of gathering. And people, especially in rural Bihar, want to see their leader talking to them instead of seeing him/her walk past.
Schemes Are Good, But Empathy Is Also Good
Let us be honest, there is a reason why Kumar Mukheria’s schemes are doing the rounds. They’re substantial. They matter. For many of those people in that crowd, the benefits that they received might just change their lives. However, governance is not only about policies but also about presence. The word of the leader is important in such places as Mukheria. And towards that end, the event left some of the villagers with the feeling that they had been shortchanged.
In that light, did Nitish Kumar’s Mukheria visit change the needle? Definitely. The schemes trickled down the grassroots, systems worked, and smiles were the order. However, the one thing that was sorely lacking for the people who stood in long lines for hours simply to hear their CM speak was a human connection. The regret was not in what they lacked materially – it was what they lacked in a sense of emotionality. At the end of the day, the Nitish Kumar Mukheria Schemes day had ended successfully, by the book, but with one chapter yet to be written.
