Bhagalpur, Bihar: According to Bihar’s education department, 218 Bhagalpur teachers withdrew transfer applications. Several of these teachers had not been allotted any schools. The highest number of transfer applicant withdrawals in Bihar districts has been in the Silk City. This shows the teacher’s satisfaction with their present postings. In the entire state, a total of 6390 teachers have withdrawn their applications.
Among the 218 teachers, 30 have already been assigned a school, whereas 188 have not been allotted. Either the Bhagalpur teachers are pleased with their current locations or are unsure about their new posting. Out of all the teachers in Bihar who withdrew their applications, 5083 teachers were not allotted schools. And, 1307 teachers have withdrawn their transfer applications even though they have been allotted schools. The largest number of applications were withdrawn from West Champaran and Darbhanga (331-331), Madhubani and Gaya (234-234), Muzaffarpur (324), and Patna (257). The least number of applications were from Lakhisarai (49), Sheikhpura (39), and Sheohar (30).
Bhagalpur Teachers Withdrew Transfer Applications – What is the Reason?

On the instructions of the Directorate of Secondary Education, Patna, the mutual transfer of the teachers of project-based and nationalized schools will happen through a digital system. Earlier, the district program officer informed the headmasters to collect details of the teachers. The information will include the teacher’s name, designation, school name, U-Day code, ID registered on the e-education portal, date of birth, date of appointment, contact number, and if any allegation is pending. This whole process was turned digital by the Bihar Government to maintain transparency and stability in the education department.
According to the reports of June 7, not even 50% of the teachers in Bihar have been transferred in 32 districts, including the Silk City. Dr. S. Siddharth, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, announced on June 20 that all the teachers will get the information through the E-Shiksha Kosh app.
At the end of May 2025, the first list of inter-district transfers was also out. DPO Establishment Devnarayan Pandit confirmed that 455 teachers were transferred from other districts to Bhagalpur due to distance. The officials in the department say an increasing number of teachers will be beneficial to strengthen the district’s educational system. And, this will especially be advantageous for areas with a shortage of teaching staff. Some other reasons for opting for inter-district transfer were serious issues like cancer, disability, autism, husband’s illness, and widowhood.
Two weeks ago, DEO verified that the transfer of 1,14,669 teachers of Bihar, including 4653 in Bhagalpur, will be completed by June 30. However, looking at the current situation where teachers are withdrawing transfer applications, this number will certainly change.
