Aliganj, Bhagalpur: Good news for people in Bhagalpur, the Aliganj four lane road plan from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj and Agarpur to Kotwali in Bhagalpur, Bihar, got a green signal. Both projects were stuck for three years due to the lack of approval. The Road Construction Department (RCD) is preparing the DPR (Detailed Project Report) for both roads.
According to the statement of Arvind Kumar Gupta, Executive Engineer of RCD, Bhagalpaur, the DPR will be prepared and sent to the headquarters within a month. He said that a consultant agency is preparing the DPR, and Rs 77 crore will be spent on the construction. The departmental engineers are preparing the four-kilometer-long four-lane road from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj Road at the expense of Rs 56.71 crore.

Plan of Aliganj Four-Lane Road DPR

Several places between Lohia Bridge to Aliganj Bypass are only three and a half meters in width. The engineers will remove encroachments to widen these parts. The electricity poles can turn out to be an obstacle. Although the electricity department has shifted some poles, due to a lack of coordination with RCD, some poles are still on the way; they will remove the poles and electric wires. Considering the survey report presented to the Bhagalpur Road Construction Department, the wire-pole shifting will take a supervision charge of Rs 10 crore.
To develop the existing road into a four-lane road, a one-meter-wide divider will be built, making the movements of vehicles safer and more organized. However, the width of the road is less in comparison to the load of vehicles. Since a divider cannot be made on a two-lane road and the absence of a divider can lead to collisions between vehicles, there is a plan to install side railings and safety reflectors along with the divider on both sides. According to RCD, a clear design and provision for the divider will be present in the DPR.
Lohia Bridge-Aliganj four-lane road will be connected to the Bhagalpur-Hansdiha four-lane road. On the other hand, Bhagalpur-Agarpur-Kotwali and Bypass Link Road will be constructed from Byapss to Kotwali, keeping the part of Shhetla Sthan Chown as it is. The Road Construction Department of Bhagalpur believes a road over bridge needs to be constructed near the No. 2 Bounsi Rail bridge. However, until the shape and approach of the road over the bridge is decided, widening is impossible in this part. After it happens, the remaining road will also be extended to make a four-lane road.
