Bhagalpur mAadhaar App, Bihar: Indian Railways has embarked on a large-scale security and identity verification upgrade. The mAadhaar app is the authorized form of the app and is issued in India by Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) of Rawatpura in Malda Division at Bihar, and it is used to check the identity of the passengers. This is a new move by the Railway Board to curb security and reduce instances of fake travelers and only valid passengers getting on the train. It is a TTE scanning an Aadhaar QR code of a passenger with a phone in a general coach. Only the Bhagalpur mAadhaar app users will travel with ease now. More than 1,000 TTEs have been trained in using the mAadhaar app by the Malda division of the Eastern Railway already. The staff is given guides to understand the differences between the original and forged Aadhaar cards.
The other major change is that from now on, Tatkal tickets shall not be booked without biometric authentication of Aadhaar, both online and at counters. As railway officials have noted, full implementation of the new system will be completed in the middle of 2025.
Purpose of mAadhaar App

- QR Verification: The time has passed when the ticket examiners had to look at the blurry copies or unreliable IDs. The mAadhaar application takes one picture of the QR code on the Aadhaar card and verifies it immediately with a secure backend.
- All-Inclusive Policy: Certainly, this identity check procedure is not only for passengers. It has a contract for pantry workers and vendors on the train.
- Fraudulent Identity and Travelling Offenses: Impersonation, illegal travel with forged concessions, as well as tampered document,s have been plaguing Indian Railways over the past years.
- Real-Time Authentication: QR checks leave digital records for internal review and do not use manual reports.
- Improved Identification of Fake Impersonators: The entries of suspects can be time-stamped in a moment, and the TTEs can escalate it to RPF officials.

Ticket Checking Process Will Evolve
- TTE clicks on the mAadhaar application on the passenger’s mobile phone.
- The passenger hands over their Aadhaar card, or QR code printed e-Aadhaar.
- Then the app follows the code and authenticates it with the UIDAI servers.
- An acceptable ID is confirmed by using a green tick; a red cross will indicate something is wrong.
- In case verification is not successful, TTE can ask for a second ID or call RPF.
